Transition Project for Year 2

Dear Parents/Carers/Children,

As you are all aware, transition into the next academic year/school, is a huge part of the world of education. This change can be exciting but also daunting for some children and adults. Due to these unprecedented times, the usual way of getting to know your next teacher/school cannot take place in the same method as has previously been the case. However, transition remains a key consideration for schools in our cluster.

We are pleased to let you know that, as part of our commitment to promoting pupil wellbeing in relation to transition, all of the schools in Brecon have worked collaboratively to design transition projects that will be available to children in each school.  The tasks produced are varied and imaginative in order that your child will hopefully be motivated, enthusiastic and engaged in the project. Activities are open ended and can be completed and recorded in a variety of ways eg use of Hwb tools, J2E or the platform your school uses.

The projects cater for three groups:

Transition project 1 (English medium) – Years 2,3 and 4

Transition project 2 (Welsh medium) – Years 2,3 and 4

Transition project 3 (both language mediums) – Years 5, 6 and 7

The activities link together in each project and aim to develop aspects of well- being, resilience and a positive mind set.

How it will work:

• The projects are there for you to do with your child if you want to.
• You can do some, all or none of the tasks! We think they will be helpful if you are able to engage to some degree with the project.
• The project will last for two weeks.
• No additional home learning will be set during this time.
• For pupils transitioning to high school there will be further opportunities for transition support in future weeks – look out for these.

We fully appreciate how difficult any home learning can be but remember the focus at all times is on well-being for everyone.
